Bad Weather Procedures

In the event of the school having to close due to bad weather we will issue a news alert on the home page of the main school website and also the home page of the Parent Pupil Portal and leave a message on the school answer phone (01295 781200). To receive an alert on your mobile devices we would strongly recommend that you download the Sibford School Communicator App. This can be download here. We will also send a message through Classlist, update our Facebook status and send a message via our Twitter feed (if you don’t already ‘like’ us on Facebook or follow us on Twitter click on the relevant icons above). Should snow fall overnight we would aim to have all the above in place by 7am.


In bad weather conditions, the ultimate decision to travel lies with the parent. If you consider it inadvisable to travel, and that to do so would compromise your safety, please inform school in the normal way of any likely absence or late arrival. If you bring pupils to school you must be prepared to collect them at the end of the day.


School buses may not operate in bad weather conditions. Parents may contact the coach companies directly to ask if they are operating on any such day. If the buses do not run in the morning it is most likely that they will not run in the afternoon. Parents of pupils being transported by school minibus will be contacted by the school driver if the collection is not able to take place in the usual way.
